At Falmouth Youth Lacrosse, we believe that fostering strong character and sportsmanship is just as crucial as developing lacrosse skills. To that end, we have established the following Code of Conduct, which we expect all players to understand and uphold. This code is designed to create a supportive, respectful, and inclusive atmosphere where every player feels valued and motivated to learn and grow.

Falmouth Youth Lacrosse Code of Conduct

1. Support and Encouragement: I will support and encourage my teammates during drills and scrimmages, fostering a positive and uplifting atmosphere.
2. Active Listening: I will actively listen to teammates and to coach's instructions and feedback, showing respect for their input and expertise.
3. Inclusive Attitude: I understand the importance of inclusivity and will help make all players feel valued and included regardless of skill level or experience.
4. Constructive Feedback: I will provide constructive feedback to my teammates in a respectful and supportive manner, focusing on helping each other improve.
5. Teamwork: I understand the importance of teamwork and collaboration and that success on the field is a collective effort that requires everyone's contribution.
6. Fair Play: I will compete with integrity, avoiding unsportsmanlike behavior such as trash-talking, committing penalties, or intentionally injuring opponents.
7. Equipment Care: I will take responsibility for my equipment, ensuring that it's safe and functional for practices and games.
8. Punctuality: I will arrive on time for practices and be ready to start at the designated time, respecting my teammates' and coaches' schedules.
9. Effort and Focus: I will give my best effort and maintain focus throughout practice sessions, maximizing my own development and contributing to the team's progress.
10. Respect for Facilities: I will respect the practice fields, keeping them clean with a carry in, carry out policy.

We believe that these guidelines are essential for creating a positive and respectful environment where players feel supported, valued, and motivated to improve together as a team.

To further reinforce the importance of this Code of Conduct, we will be implementing a process where players who consistently struggle to abide by these guidelines may experience reduced playing time during games. This decision is not taken lightly and will be implemented thoughtfully and with the goal of helping players understand the importance of teamwork, respect, and sportsmanship.

Our coaches will work with players who are having difficulty adhering to the code, providing guidance and opportunities for improvement. Reduced playing time will be used as a tool to emphasize the importance of these values and to ensure a positive experience for the entire team. We believe that this approach will ultimately benefit all players by fostering a more cohesive and supportive team environment.
